Twelve Tips to Enhance Your Executive Messages

#12 Follow Through

Once you have effectively defined, planned, crafted, packaged and delivered your message, there is still one more very important step to take . . . follow up. In the vast majority of cases, your message will contain a call to action for the audience or a promise of action from you or someone else. Your communication plan should include clear follow-up activity to ensure that the desired action occurs, whether it is a brief reminder, a comprehensive information campaign or anything in between. Whenever possible, you should also follow up your communication with an evaluation of its effectiveness. Utilizing audience feedback and other metrics can help quantify your analysis for future enhancements and fine tuning. It is another way that executive messages make your point, powerfully.
